The CFGP is pleased with the work of our all Cortes logging crew in delivering this intermediate harvest (thinning) on approximately 6 hectares, totalling just over 1,000 m3 of logs.

The CFGP would also like to thank all the volunteers who came out to help with the community firewood day. Approximately 90 pickup loads, or 35 cords went out to seniors and other people in need in the community for the third year running.

If the number of applicants exceeds the number of truckloads available we will draw names.

On October 10 the Community Forest General Partnership held a public meeting to review its Forest Stewardship Plan (FSP). This review is the primary high level plan required under the Forest and Range Practices Act (FRPA). Part of the CFGP mandate is to supply the island with firewood.  Since we have a limited amount of firewood available this spring, we are hosting an event to improve broad community access.

If you are a winter resident who is physically challenged with the heavy work of firewood (senior, adult with health concerns or single parent of a young child), we want to deliver a truckload (about 1/2 – 2/3 of a cord of un-split rounds) to you — FOR FREE!

If you are eligible and would like to receive firewood, please contact our Firewood Coordinator, Corry Dow at 935 6800, or corry.dow@gmail, with your name, phone number (or email) and address. We will draw for the winners if more applications are received than we have the capacity to deliver.  Registration deadline: June 21, 2018.
