Community Forest Management Objectives

The 5-year review of the Community Forest Operating Plan got under way in 2018 and was completed in September 2019. The new document has been renamed as the Cortes Community Forest Management Objectives (CFMO) to better reflect the intent behind its development. The final draft of the CFMO is available here:

5 – Year Plan 2018 – 2022

NOTE: Due to upcoming changes to land allocations on Cortes relating to the Klahoose Treaty process, several parcels of the community forest land base will be removed from the community forest. These include most of the areas that were previously part of the 2018 – 2022 plan. As a result, the CFGP is shifting its operational planning to implement the recommendations for the community forest area from the Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP). A new 5-year plan is currently under development.

The 5-year plan for 2018 – 2022 provides an outline of projected operations for the second five year cut control period which began on January 1, 2018. The timing and sequence of operations will be determined by a range of factors including access to road and log transfer infrastructure, as well as other conditions as they evolve over time.
