The winter 2024-25 wildfire risk reduction projects in the Squirrel Cove and Coulter Bay Areas of the Community Forest are now completed. The work was started in October 2024 and the crew worked through the winter and completed the work in April 2025.
Many people and organizations came together to make the projects happen, and the CFGP is grateful to the Forest Enhancement Society of BC for the Funding and flexibility to see deliver such successful project. The crew from Reef Point Falling also did exemplary work throughout the projects.
The CFGP has two new members joining the board at this time. Chief Kevin Peacey is replacing Steven Brown as a representative from the Klahoose side of the Partnership, and David Shipway will take the place of Aaron Ellingsen who is stepping down as a representative from the Cortes Community Forest Cooperative.
Planning is ongoing for a fall harvest in the Larsens Meadow, and Coulter Bay Areas of the community forest. Detailed maps will be avaailabe for both projects in the coming weeks.
